Hello happy Thursday readers,
Thanks to all who left sweet comments on my last thread. It appears not many readers have cross stitch design programs which surprises me. It seems most stitchers don't do their own designing.
I am loving stitching on the Bothy Threads Cut Thru' Castle! My heart does a little skip when it sees the little pictures form. It will be even more fun making them come alive with the backstitching. I have finished stitching the "king's chamber" and have started on the "dragon's den". This is for my three year old boy's bedroom. I have no doubt that Tom will be right into castles when it is finished. My 12 year old son, Jack is watching it grow keenly too so Tom had better watch out that his big brother doesn't steal it!
The other thing that is fun about stitching this is that I am part of a delightful SAL hosted by Linda called Bothy Threads Cut Thru' Monday SAL. This project is stitched on 14 count light blue Aida which the needle glides through.
I need some advice here. Would you leave all the backstitching until all of the stitching is completed?
Thanks for picking the daffodils in my garden...
Jan x

Happy Stitching
This is looking great. I would do the back stitch as I go as it's my least favourite part of stitching and it helps bring the picture to life along the way too.
It depends how much you like back stitching. There is an awful lot and I have to admit on Garden Shed I did it as I went along otherwise it probably would never be finished.
Hmmm...good question! I sometimes leave all the backstitching until last, and sometimes I finish it section by section. I guess it depends on your personal preference, and if you like seeing the details pop out before moving on to the next section. Great progress, by the way! :D
I always leave the backstitching for last although I don't think I stitch many things with backstitching anymore. Don't know why ... just based on my fave designers I guess : )
beautiful progress..
big hugs x
I usually back stitch as i go along. This is such a bright and colourful stitchy design.
Congrats on finishing the room Jan. It looks great and so colorful. From my on experience on the Stable, I would do at least some of the backstitching as you go. There really is a lot of it.

Great progress, it's looking lovely. I would do the backstitching as I go to avoid it being a real slog at the end.
Lovely stitching :)
I don't really enjoy doing back-stitch so I do it as I go, especially on larger designs like the one you are stitching. That way when I'm finished I'm finished :) I don't have a load of back-stitching do at the end :)
I always do the back-stitching as I go, that way, when you finish the last section, you don't have to go back and do it all.
Cut-thru looks great!
Both your sons will have so much fun looking at all the details in the castle. I vote for doing the backstitch as you go, so you can see the picture come to life. Maybe you could do the backstitch on each room before you start the next.
I love this design. I think I would backstitch as I did each room just to bring each piece alive.
